Tiivistelmä: | The use of information technology is presented in three areas /product-service enablement, product-service differentiation and productivity/. In fact, the more areas one can address, the more likely one is to realize a strategic gain. Electronic data interchange /EDI/ is an application that shows promise in several strategic areas. Some firms are attempting to use EDI to /reduce costs, differentiate products and services /and possibly lock in certain buyer-seller channels/, and provide entry to new profitable information services. EDI is most commonly used by companies that electronically exchange bills, orders, and invoices. Both modern and traditional information technologies are useful. |
