Tiivistelmä:Over 300 bankers in 17 US investment banks, plus managers at selected other firms in the US and abroad were interviewed in a study. Investment banks maintain a complex set of external ties with customers and competitors, issuers and investors. Flexible and dynamic network organizational structures enable firms to process unique deals and to adapt to changing circumstances. The investment banking function is characterized. Three characteristics of five are concerned with its task, and two ones with its environment. A network approach to organizational design is discussed. The role of client-oriented measurement systems, and the different kinds of rewards are described.
