Tiivistelmä:Self-appraisal may complement evaluative supervisory ratings. Self-appraisal can help employees improve their job performance. There is an explanation why research on the evaluation function of self-appraisal has provided such a poor results. Modifications in self-appraisal are suggested that may increase their developmental effectiveness. Two theoretical orientations are reviewed which justify the belief that self-appraisal can improve job performance.
