Tiivistelmä:Literature on motives for corporate mergers, planning for buyout or sellout, and links between mergers and acquisitions and human resource management issues as well as merger outcomes is briefly reviewed. Particularly, it is pointed out why understanding human resource issues in mergers is important. Further, a typology is proposed describing the possible degree of integration between merging firms and its relationship to human resource practices and outcomes e.g. reactions of participants, financial results are discussed. In conclusion possible research questions regarding the typology and its relationship to human resource issues and outcomes are asked.
