| Tiivistelmä: | Based on what the literature reveals about the relationship of technology to corporate strategy the ways in which technology shapes the strategic decisions of firms are described and analyzed. The contribution found in the literature focus too much on extreme cases, that is, either on the individual firm or on a whole industrial sector. Therefore an alternative approach is developed which views firms as intermediaries who take technology and transfer it to the marketplace in a saleable form. Some recommendations are offered on how this model could be put into operational shape. The more common strategic responses are identified. A set of issues for guiding future research are suggested. |
