Tiivistelmä:In spite of the success that past researchers have had in predicting job satisfaction and satisfaction with the work itself on the basis of measured job characteristics, the construct validity of the commonly used job characteristics measures has been questioned on several occasions. The principal purpose of the present study, therefore, is to assess the degree to which the variance in a number of criteria could be better explained using measures of job characteristics based on an empirical derivation than based on an a priori formulation.
