| Tiivistelmä: | The multinational corporations (MNC) contribution (capital; special industry knowledge; management skills; and patience) is analyzed to privatization in developing countries. The opportunities and pitfalls are analyzed from the side of multinationals and of the host countries. The many examples show the decision for an MNC and a host nation to work together in a privatization effort is not to be arrived at without careful reflection of the goals, objectives and motivation of the parties involved. If the host nation is looking for a foreign MNC to act as a generous provider of resources, the MNC will regret its involvement, and if the MNC views the people of the host nation as naive, the result will be equally disastrous. |
