| Tiivistelmä: | The discussions about the ruble zone, which die down and then float back to the surface, reflect the complex, objective transformation of the monetary system of the former Soviet Union into the monetary systems of the sovereign states that are taking its place. The Soviet ruble is being replaced by independent national monetary units that are intended not only to satisfy the needs of internal production and circulation but also to interact with one another to create the necessary mechanism of currency settlements for servicing the foreign ties among the new states. |
