| Tiivistelmä: | Ukraine's reformist premier has been pushed out of power. The author considers the question, that means an end of reform, and of the country's hopes of moving towards the West. In conclusion the author states that yet Ukraine is not about to become a Central European country on the threshold of EU membership. The Gongadze scandal and Mr. Yushchenko's fall have made that abundantly clear. Instead, Ukraine is likely to bring in Ukrainian-style reforms, responding to pressure from its own citizens to improve their living standards. |
