| Tiivistelmä: | Despite ambiguous laws, property has change from state to public hands quickly during the first few years of privatisation in Lithuania. But how is it progressing now, under a Democratic Labour government? When Lithuania began selling state property in 1991, the aim was to privatise two thirds of it (excluding land) within a few years. Some preliminary moves towards privatisation had already been made at the end of 1990, when employees were given or allowed to purchase limited ownership stakes in their enterprises. |
