Tiivistelmä:Poland's success with the National Investment Fund programme disguises its sloth over privatisation. There are nearly 4,000 companies left to sell, and they are steadily going downhill. The Poles like to laugh at the Czechs. Voucher privatisation, they snort, is a joke. There's no corporate governance, no mechanism for restructuring and no distance from the state. They are right. But the Poles have no reason to feel smug. While there are signs that their National Investment Funds (NIFs) are a sound concept for dealing with mass privatisation, they only cover 500 companies.
