Tiivistelmä:At present China's grain safety is faced with a burning threat for a large amount of water for irrigation is diverted to other purpose and there are serious losses in underground water. It is estimated that China's demand for water will rise to 106.8 billion cubic metres by the year 2030 from 48.3 billion cubic metres in 1995. In China, over 70 percent of grain crop come from the irrigated land. But the losses in water resources are serious due to dried up source and water pollution, which will lead to the serious grain reduction. So it is imperative to reestablish water economy. According to estimation, China will import 0.2 billion tons of grain by the year 2030 due to grain reduction for shortage of water.
