| Tiivistelmä: | Land-cover changes (henceforth as: l-c-chgs.) are caused by human activities and natural ecological processes. Thus, this study uses an interdisciplinary approach to research l-c-chgs. A method is presented to i. link socio-economic/environmental factors and l-c-chgs., ii. identify indicators of l-c-chgs., and iii. distinguish btw. socio-economic and environmental indicators associated with local types of overall l-c-chgs. In this study's region of Lahn-Dill Highlands, Germany, l-c-chgs. were investigated to occur over the period of 1945-1999. Using redundancy analysis (RDA), the relationships btw. l-c-chgs. and widely available socio-economic/environmental factors were analysed. The results reveal among others that both individual l-c-chgs. and types of overall l-c-chgs. characterizing districts are correlated with socio-economic and environmental factors. |
