| Tiivistelmä: | The Amazonian rainforest is being destroyed and polluted by projects of little long-term gain such as temporary cattle pastures. The halting of this destruction is one of the major environmental challenges facing this generation. Ways of building a sustainable long-term future for the region are proposed. They include the creation of larger conservation areas for the region and indigenous reserves, and the adaptation of indigenous agroforestry techniques to use mixed cultures where crops are grown. |
