Tiivistelmä:Microprocessors have changed our ways of life and reshaped our economy. The second revolution is beginning soon with world-changing biochips, formally known as DNA arrays. They are crammed with dense grids of molecular tweesers built to grip DNA. Californian Affymetrix introduced the first biochip last year (1996). Chips medical applications are almost limitless. For example it would be easy to analyse one's genetic risks for scores and diseases. Health care and pharmaceutical business will be changing radically. Investors are enthusiastic about DNA chip technology, with companies aiming to become big in biomedicine. Tomorrows health care with "genotyping" and gene therapy will increase vastly preventive use of drugs.
