Tiivistelmä: | Pasta, the Italian word for "paste", is the generic term for 400 or so products made from wheat and water, with or without egg. In a recent research dry, fresh, frozen, canned and other pasta products were covered. The majority of new product developments focus on the frozen and packaged sector. Several growth trends in pasta consumption are reported. Pasta consumption has been rising in most major markets throughout the present decade with the notable exception of Italy. It seems, that as a result of increased international travel and a general willingness among consumers to experiment with different foods, especially ethnic dishes, pasta is gradually being accepted as a staple dish in countries outside the Mediterranean and Asiatic regions. |
