| Tiivistelmä: | The successes and failures of the large German Metallgesellschaft corporation /Frankfurt/ are considered. Although the leader of the company, Heinz Schimmelbusch was chosen the Manager of the Year in 1991, his failures also contributed to the losses and decline of the firm. Due to the false forcasts the value of the shares of the company declined considerably in the last few years and it is now under the so called Dax /German share index/. The three main fields of activity of the firm are described as well as the measures to stop the decline and improve the performance of the corporation. |
