| Tiivistelmä: | The new pattern of foreign finance emphasizes direct funding of developing country firms rather that sovereign borrowing, which was the dominant theme for many years. The shift away from bank sources of finance to direct use of emerging capital markets has been precipitated by the pervasive atmosphere of economic liberalization and privatizations throughout these markets. This article analyzes the unique situations accompanying this shift and the role emerging capital markets play. |
