| Tiivistelmä: | The sources of funds available to start-ups and early stage firms are explored. While the high street banks remain the most common option, factoring is playing a growing role in the small business sector. Lobbying groups struggle for the setting up of a Business Development Board providing cheap-rate finance for small and medium-sized firms. They want many more firms to be created for which the capital is supplied by the Government. Most small firms don't move from a well-known bank to an unknown one. Small firms in traditional industries are being hit hard by high interest rates. They can't afford to expand or to make forward plans. |
