| Tiivistelmä: | USA manufacturers have become less effective world-wide competitors in recent years because of their declining productivity. It is hypothesized that productivity is positively associated with firm value. The study tests empirically the association between firm value (security price) and productivity (added value) measures in the oil refining and the apparel industries. The results show that the association between firm value and productivity measures is stronger than that between firm value and earnings measures. |
