| Tiivistelmä: | This paper applies a contingent visitation analysis to estimate the effects of changes in climate (hereafter as: cl.) and resource variables (here as: res-var./res-vars.) on nature-based recreation demand. A visitor survey at Rocky Mountain National Park (in Colorado, U.S.) included descriptions of hypothetical cl. scenarios (here as: scens.) and questions about how respondents' visitation (here as: vst-ion.) behaviour (here as: vst-ion-beh.) would change contingent upon the scens. Survey responses are used to estimate the impact of cl. change on park vst-ion. and to test for the relative significance among cl. scens. and res-vars. A relatively small proportion of respondents indicated that their vst-ion-beh. would change under the hypothetical cl. scens., and the net effect on vst-tion. is slightly positive. Both direct (weather-related) and indirect (resource-related) cl. scen. variables are found to be statistically significant determinants of contingent expected changes in visitation. |
