Not many annual accounts begin with a statement from the chairman that talks about the accounts being "both a milestone for the organization and a major step forward for... accounting". The accounts in question are the 1995/96 social accounts of Traidcraft Exchange. The chairman continues: "We believe that Äthese accountsÅ will make it easier for more organizations to produce their own social accounts,... for the first time financial auditors have provided standard audit rigour to the collection and presentation of social accounts. |
