| Tiivistelmä: | The notion of "qualification" is critically examined through the works of the founding father of French labor sociology. The usage of this notion is placed within its social and political context. The perspectives of technical civilization and the consequences of developing "automatism" are examined. Several typologies of the Friedmannian analysis are reconstituted. The qualification and dequalification effects of the technical progress are discussed. Questions are asked about his definition of qualification, the critical used, and the changes foreseen. The two indices which he constructed are dealt with. The changes in the nature of qualification are also illustrated. Friedmann's contribution to the subsequent debates is emphasized. |
