| Tiivistelmä: | The authors constructed a scale called Job in General to accompany the facet scales of the Job Descriptive Index. They applied both traditional and item response theory procedures for item analysis to three large samples. They demonstrated convergent and discriminant validity and differential response to treatments and showed that global scales were not equivalent to summated facet scales. They suggest some principles for choosing specific, composite or global measures for practical and theoretical problems. |
