| Tiivistelmä: | International rules for trade and investment have evolved without explicitly taking into account environmental protection. The institutional arrangement for the international division of labour, laid down in the norms of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT, now the World Trade Organisation), attempts to provide a multilateral economic framework in which the exchange of goods and the movement of resources can flourish so as to increase the wealth of nations. |
