| Tiivistelmä: | Following the collapse of communism and the break up of the former Soviet Union, the number of countries with an interest in joining the World Trade Organization has greatly increased. There are currently 27 countries applying for membership in the WTO and most of them are the former communist countries, or the countries in transition (CIT) as they are often called. It is expected that other former communist countries that have not yet applied for membership will do so in the near future. |
