| Tiivistelmä: | There has been significant concern that regional trade groups might become stumbling block for a free global trading system, as members' trade is biased towards their partners and non-members harmed by trade diversion. In this paper, this question is examined for NAFTA. Little evidence of bias is shown by a modified gravity model for trade of the NAFTA countries, with bilateral trade flows explained by incomes, gergraphical distance and a common language. |
