| Tiivistelmä: | The problem of controlling a manufacturing system is large and complex. Many factors may be involved in the problem. The problem is often addressed by treating control as a hierarchy, where the levels are determined by the time scale and scope of the issues involved. In this paper a three-level hierarchy is presented and the role of factors at each of the levels in determining system performance is investigated. Four performance measures are investigated: mean flow, variability of the flowtimes, and amount of deadlocking, and makespan. |
