Tiivistelmä: | In modern machining, automatic in-process monitoring of the condition of cutting tool is an important capability of a machine tool. Although a variety of tool wear sensing techniques has been developed, a reliable in-process monitoring method has not evolved so far. This paper describes an in-process technique for monitoring the cutting tool condition in a turning process. An attempt has been made to extract maximum information from force/vibration signals during machining. Statistical methods are used to extract parameters which represent the state of the cutting process. |
