Tiivistelmä:Group technology (GT) is based on the idea of rationale grouping of parts characterized by similar technological and geometrical features. Such part families are assigned to cells composed of machining resources, set up in order to best route and process sequences of part families: this procedure is named cellular manufacturing (CM). The purpose of this paper is to provide a paradigm for the complete exploitation of the flexibility underlying the GT and CM approaches, and for managing it in terms of fuzzy cells formation. The fuzzy methodology is used in view of an optimization of job shop scheduling.
