| Tiivistelmä: | The recent practice of the economic reform and privatization of state owned firms in East Germany is accompanied by corruption, protests against the shutting-down of plants, aversion against the new managers and owners, and expanding bureaucracy. The state agency responsible for the privatization of East German firms (Treuhand) is heavily criticized, and there is a coalition of East German politicians of all parties and trade unions against the strategy of the Treuhand. They commonly urge the Treuhand to provide the East German firms more chance for survival. |
