| Tiivistelmä: | Public employment services (PESs) are entering a new stage in their development. Their brief nowadays is to feed manpower to a production machine in the full flush of technological renewal, and to organize special employment and retraining programmes. This revamping of the PESs is accompanied by doubts about their monopoly status and growing emphasis on their role in monitoring labour market developments. Although most of the relevant international standards remain valid, they could be revised and augmented by new provisions. |
