Tiivistelmä:There is a growing concern in the USA about the ethical climate in America generally, and about business ethics in particular. Ethics has become a big business in the country. Universities are setting up ethics courses, the big accounting firms, trade associations, the Business Roundtable, and the Conference Board all offer competing ethical commandments and credos. As many as 2,000 American corporations have drafted ethics codes in recent years for their directors, management, and rank-and-file workers. The author argues that the American public is demanding a higher standard of conduct from its public servants and corporations than it has asked for in the past.
