Tiivistelmä:Arguments are presented that competitive advantage based on casually ambiguous competencies can be sustained in gradually evolving environments. Tacitness, complexity, and specificity are those main characteristics in a firm's skills and resources which can generate casual ambiguity in competency-based advantage, and thus raise barriers to imitation. Reinvestment in casually ambiguous competencies is necessary to protect the advantage. Research propositions are suggested which will lead to an improved understanding of competitive advantage sustainability.
