| Tiivistelmä: | On-line data banks and CD-ROMs are becoming more and more popular; this segment of the communication and information technology business is flourishing. In Germany the number of regular users of on-line data bases has increased from 1800 in 1986 to 5000 in 1991. The number of CD-ROMs sold in West Germany is said to be doubled to 70 000 in 1992. The article provides information about the state-of-the-art of the technology concerning the two areas the systems and equipment available at the market, the performance of the systems and prices. |
