Tiivistelmä:This paper analyzes the general law of the development of the world's retail trading and explores the stage in which China's retail trading is and its development trends. Large and medium-sized department stores began to be universalized in China in the mid-1980s and sped up their growth in the 1990s, but reached saturation point in the mid-1990s. It shows that China has completed the first retail revolution: In the last few years of this century, super markets and specialized markets are the two kinds of business modes, which are growing fastest. They will become three pillars together with department stores. Among them, the super- market taking the form of chain business organization, will become the mode of business with the greatest vitality.
