| Tiivistelmä: | Spanish banks will face an unlimited competition from EEC banks from 1993. Preparing for the entrance of 40 foreign banks, the government started to deregulate the banking sphere by abolishing the maximum on the interest rates on deposits of less than six months. Though Spanish bankers are pessimistic, their banks are healthier than ever. There is even a danger that the public will not be happy with such a high profit rate. In the near future the administrative regulations should be annulled, the inefficient banks should be closed down. |
