| Tiivistelmä: | The performance of department and variety stores in Switzerland is examined. A short outlook is presented about the European trends. Large mixed retailers market shares are analyzed. Tables are showing the value of department and variety store sales by country and Swiss retail sales. National trends and developments are compared. Data are presented about Swiss consumer spending. Retail sales have grown only slowly in monetary terms, with virtually no growth in real terms. The main stores are listed together with floor space and turnover. Sales mix is analyzed.
