| Tiivistelmä: | It is aimed at to clarify the possible practical applications of expert systems as well as the time and cost requirement, for their development. The expert systems are defined, their general characteristics are analyzed, and various steps of their construction are studied. Application domain selection, system evaluation, and maintenance are investigated. Present limitations are discussed and future perspectives of expert systems are presented. Taking into account that in the eighties, expert systems have received more and more interest from the industrial world, conclusions on what kind of problems can be solved by their application are discussed. |
