| Tiivistelmä: | The development of a systems model of sub-sea inspection operations and activities for offshore structures is described. Diving practices, weather conditions, topside management procedures and inspection techniques are incorporated into the model, along with support-vessel capabilities. The objective of and motivation behind the project is to build a research tool for both identifying and quantifying ways of improving the overall efficiency of the inspection diving operation, and to improve on the existing low level of quantitative understanding of the problem. Results indicate that the simplest way of achieving a significant improvement in sub-sea inspection diving efficiency is to schedule topside and sub-sea operations. |
