| Tiivistelmä: | This paper aims at integrating recent literature on knowledge work productivity (KWP) in distributed teams, giving an overview of the elements affecting it. An overview of research in the field of knowledge work productivity is presented. Integrated are theories of different fields of management theory, and work and organizational psychology. There are the following three questions: i. What is knowledge work? ii. What is knowledge work productivity? iii. Which elements prevent or enable knowledge work productivity in distributed teams of global technology companies? The key elements either disabling or enabling KWP are defined: team tasks, team structure and processes, the physical, virtual and social workspaces with organizational context. An integrative model of KWP in distributed teams of global technology companies is presented. |
