Tiivistelmä:As a method for enhancing personal productivity and reducing the stress caused by information overload, David Allen proposed in 2001 'Getting Things Done' (GTD). Recent insights in psychology and cognitive science are argued to support and extend GTD's recommendations. Based on GTD summarization, theory review etc., it is concluded that the brain heavily relies on the environment to function as an external memory, a trigger for actions, and a source of 'affordances', disturbances and feedback. These principles are shown to be practically implemented in GTD. Finally, inspired by the concept of 'stigmergy', an extension of GTD to support collaborative work is proposed.
