Tiivistelmä:This article reports on findings of a study conducted to explore the cognitive moral logics (here as: m-lgs.) used for considering software piracy (here as: SP.) as ethical (as: e.) or unethical (as: un-e). Since the aim was to reveal the m-lgs. from the respondents, semi-structured in-depth interviews of 38 software professionals of India were performed. The interviews' content was analyzed using the grounded theory framework. It was found that 21 respondents considered SP. un-e. whereas 17 did not. Though economic reasons forming the most fundamental logic in both the cases, an overall analysis uncovered that the respondents mostly used moral justification for not considering SP. un-e. while those considering it un-e. used normative logics. The interconnections among logics are analyzed and results are discussed.
