| Tiivistelmä: | Over the past decade the personnel management's position have received much attention. Strategies whereby the gap between its theoretical centrality and experienced marginality might be bridged have been proposed. The emergent "consensus" functionalist image of personnel management in the 1990s is critically examined,contrasting it with potential images derived from other paradigmatic perspectives /the radical structuralists,the interpretive,the radical humanist and other functionalist ones/. Different model situations are described justifying the above mentioned perspectives. The utility of the "consensus" image in reinforcing personnel practitioners' threatened power base is also discussed. |
