| Tiivistelmä: | Industrial relations in the UK newspaper industry are in a state of flux. Structural changes, in particular those of technology, make it likely that the shift in bargaining power in favor of employers is largely irreversible. Currently, legislative changes have had a sizeable but not decisive influence on the shift in bargaining power. These changes are inherently reversible. Economic factors and geographical changes are analyzed, too. Developments in the national newspaper industry are likely to replace the heavy emphasis on unilateral employee regulation to include joint consultation, collective bargaining or bilateral employer regulation. |
