Tiivistelmä: | The problems of German trade unions in absorbing and evaluating detailed company information are explored. The "Kennziffern" approach (surveillance by indicators) is analyzed. German trade unions have achieved considerable skill in the analysis of economic data, included for example in the company balance sheets, strategic plans, and reports on business performance. But indicators give insight into the quality of the employees' working situations too. Some failures and pitfalls with the indicators have made it evident that the systematic search for information can't do without the use of informal channels of communication. Still enormous efforts are made to promote data analysis by computer. Features of an active informational policy are summarized. |
