Tiivistelmä:The authors develop a set of competing hypotheses through contrasting the various learning process theories described in the research on organizational, group and individual learning that suggest some degree of variation might improve the learning rate. Such comparison yields competing arguments abouth how related or unrelated such task variation should be to improve the learning rate. An experimental study is used to answer two questions: 1) Is the learning rate maximized through specialization? or 2) Does variation, related or unrelated, enhance the learning process?
