Tiivistelmä:The nature of job satisfaction and organizational commitment is investigated in a manufacturing concern. Special attention is paid to the role played by race in influencing and determining job satisfaction and organizational commitment patterns. It is established that race articulates strongly with job satisfaction and organizational commitment. This finding supports the proposition that industry and community are highly interrelated and interdependent. It is apparent that not even a progressive company can escape from the firm grip that the racial policies of South Africa have on organizational life. It can be said that organizational life will not be normal until race as an institutionalized principle is eliminated.
