| Tiivistelmä: | A generalized current research information and costing system for management of an agricultural research programme is described by reference to the Agricultural Research Current Information System (ARCIS) of the Agricultural and Food Research Council of the United Kingdom. The system separates direct and overhead costs, involves the identification of a hierarchy of categories - programme areas, programme units, research objectives and researcher activities - provides for regular reporting, and for both annual and ad hoc revision. The system is governed by a central office unit which maintains the system, checks that budgets and priorities are adhered to and monitors performance. |
