Tiivistelmä:Relationships among race, organizational experiences, job performance evaluations, and career outcomes are examined for black and white managers from work organizations. Compared to white managers, blacks felt less accepted in their organizations, perceived themselves as having less discretion on their jobs, received lower ratings from their supervisors on their job performance and promotability, were more likely to have reached career plateaus, and experienced lower levels of career satisfaction. The results provide limited support for mediational processes and reveal that race has direct effects on job performance evaluations, career plateauing, and career satisfaction.
